4 months to Page Rank 4 – Is it possible? Certainly is possible! My proof is my gadget blog Newgadgetsguru. I started Newgadgetsguru in September 2008 and by January 2nd 2009 I had achieved PR4. I myself was amazed at how quickly the blog climbed from PR0 to PR2 and then to PR4. Guess Google must love me!
Ok, I’m not saying that this is any amazing feat but generally any new and aspiring blogger would quickly like to improve his or her page rank to improve the credibility of the blog as well. Of course, it is also believed that a higher page rank would result in a higher position when your blog post turns up on Google search for related keywords. But remember – higher page rank doesn’t necessarily mean substantially higher traffic. Getting traffic to your blog is a different ball game all together and I will cover that in a later post.
If there are any bloggers out there who are looking for tips to improve their page rank, here are some ideas that I can outline based on my experience:
1. Article submission to article directories: A very old trick in the book, but it still works. There are quite a number of article directories around and since they have a high page rank and link back to you would be much helpful.
2. Submit articles to social media sites: I’m not very sure how effective this is, but I believe that getting a link back from Digg or Yahoo Buzz is quite helpful too.
3. Exchange links with blogs in the same domain of expertise:Write to the webmaster and ask if he or she is willing to exchange links. You could also ask for an interview in return.
4. Comment on “do-follow” blogs: Quite a number of blogs are now “do-follow” as they look forward to comments on their blogs. Google such blogs within the same domain of expertise as your own blog and comment on them. Be careful not to SPAM!
5. Write great content: Yes, this works too! My blog got noticed by Nokia when I blogged about their WiMax handset and I got a link back from them. Same thing happened with a toshiba notebook review blog as well. So keep writing interesting posts.
Some bloggers feel that a high page rank might not mean much. In my opinion it does – especially when you want to be seen as a creditable blogger with an established site. So strive to improve your page rank while you are working at increasing your traffic as well.
Do you have any experience to share on how you went about improving the page rank of your blog? Let’s hear in the comments section.
