My plans to beat the recession

I’d really like to think that we’re somewhere near the bottom of this awful recession but my peers seem to think otherwise. I’m always an optimist and this has helped me get through tough times in my career and personal life too. So as I thought about what I intend to do to ride this freak wave of economic uncertainty, here are some things which came to mind:

1. Work at least an extra 2 hours every night once I put the kids to bed (yes, that means sacrificing TV time)
2. Continue working on my iPhone applications. I did make some decent money last year – no reason why I can’t do it again. I probably need to buy more books to improve my programming skills.
3. Work harder on my blogs. I do see some substantial increase in my adsense earnings. I need to figure other ways of monetizing my PR 4 blog – Newgadgetsguru.
4. Get some freelancing jobs – either writing articles or iphone programming. That should be easy!
5. Work on PPC for my Amazon associates. I did make some decent money in January in this new venture. But I need to monitor my spendings quite closely.

I think with the above 5 strategies in place I should be in good shape for 2009. My goal – be self employed by 2010. Hopefully I will start my own company and do all of the above full time. But nothing starts without goals – have you set yours yet?

I think those are great goals. Especially the one about doing things other than watching TV. I plan on entering more contest to help with our situation in these troubled times. It’s about all I can do right now. The $100 that I won in your contest a few weeks back helped pay for school clothes and an entrance exam my son had to take for college. He starts school this Tuesday. I have you to thank for that. It is amazing how a mere $100 can make a big difference in someones life. If Karma has anything to do with anything you have some good Karma coming your way! I wish you all the best and some great success with all you encounter!

Thanks. Appreciate it :)

Very inspiring indeed! I read an article on Newsweek on how some IT guys quit their fulltime job after venturing in iPhone applications development.

You have planned some nice things to beat the recession and make extra income. It’s always good to get some freelancing work and make some extra income.
